16 November 2011 SAN FRANCISCO, California

Company is Only Engineering & Construction Company on List

Bechtel has been named one of the “35 Best Companies to Work For” in Chile by the Great Place to Work® Institute and Revista Capital magazine. This is the first year the company participated in the process to be considered for the list and is the only engineering and construction company to make the list. The company ranked 34th and is one of nearly 200 companies that participated in the list process.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of Chile’s ‘35 Best Companies to Work For,’ especially in our first year of participation,” said José Ivo, president of Bechtel Chile. “Our employees are an integral part of Bechtel’s ability to successfully deliver for our customers, and we strive to provide employees with rewarding career opportunities. This recognition is a reflection of the dedication of everyone who works at Bechtel Chile.”

The Great Place to Work Institute defines a great workplace as one in which people trust their employers, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people with whom they work.  Under the Great Place to Work approach, two-thirds of a company’s score is based on an employee survey and one-third is based on a culture audit, which asks about the company’s demographics, benefits, and employment practices.

A global leader in the engineering, procurement, and construction industry, Bechtel has been an employer of choice in Chile for more than 30 years.  The company’s strong presence in the mining industry in Chile is evidenced by its role in signature projects that include the Los Pelambres, Los Bronces, and Collhahuasi copper mines
