As part of our commitment to offering colleagues a diverse, inclusive culture in which to thrive, Bechtel engages and collaborates with a range of external organizations focused on supporting and developing individuals from underrepresented groups, particularly in STEM fields. With missions consistent with our Vision, Values & Commitments, we leverage their networks and expertise to build our own diverse pipeline of diverse and highly qualified talent to build our company for the long term.​

50K Coalition​ 

AISES, NSBE, SHPE and SWE​—the preeminent diversity engineering organizations (collectively serving more than 85,000 members)—have formed a coalition focused on a bold national goal: to produce 50,000 diverse engineering graduates annually by 2025. Our expertise and more than 188 years of collective experience perfectly position us to tackle this goal. Moreover, our partnership with the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) will broaden our reach across the entire engineering community.​

American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)

AISES is a U.S. national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.


Catalyst​ is a global nonprofit working with some of the world’s most powerful CEOs and leading companies to help build workplaces that work for women. Founded in 1962, Catalyst drives change with pioneering research, practical tools, and proven solutions to accelerate and advance women into leadership—because progress for women is progress for everyone.


Disability:IN is the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide. Our network of over 400 corporations expands opportunities for people with disabilities across enterprises. Our central office and 25 Affiliates serve as the collective voice to effect change for people with disabilities in business.

National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering

NACME​ partners with like-minded entities to provide scholarships, resources, and opportunities for high-achieving, underrepresented minority college students pursuing careers in engineering and computer science. Its mission is to enrich society with an American workforce that champions diversity in STEM by increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in engineering and computer science.​

National Society of Black Engineers

With more than 500 chapters and nearly 16,000 active members in the U.S. and abroad, NSBE​ is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the U.S. Founded in 1975, NSBE supports and promotes the aspirations of students and technical professionals in engineering and technology. NSBE’s mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.​

Out and Equal 

Out & Equal is a nonprofit organization working exclusively on LGBT+ workplace equality. Through global programs, Fortune 500 partnerships, and its annual Workplace Summit conference, the organization helps LGBT+ people thrive, and contribute to and support organizations, helping create a culture of belonging for all.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers​ 

SHPE​ was founded in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. Today, SHPE‘s mission is to change lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.​

Society of Women Engineers

For more than six decades, SWE​ has given women engineers a unique place and voice within the engineering industry. SWE’s mission is to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, to expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving quality of life, and to demonstrate the value of diversity.​

U.S. Women in Nuclear

U.S. WIN​ is a premier inclusive network of over 8,000 women and men who work in nuclear- and radiation-related fields around the country. Its strategic objectives are to support an environment in nuclear energy in which women and men are able to succeed, to provide a network through which women in these fields can further their professional development, and to inform the public about nuclear energy and nuclear technologies.​

White Men as Full Diversity Partners (WMFDP)

Bechtel has partnered and allied with White Men as Full Diversity Partners (WMFDP) to drive the belief that transformative change occurs when influential leaders understand their impact and see the value of bringing outsiders in.  Bechtel’s and WMFDP’s approach to engagement views influential leaders, otherwise known as insiders, as part of the diversity and inclusion (D&I) solution.  Mindfulness of Diversity & Inclusion when making decisions is an essential part of leadership development which is usually achieved through experiential learning.  Since 2019, Bechtel and WMFDP have been guiding leaders through focused experiences and participant dialogues. This interactive approach offers a shift in thoughts, feelings, and mindsets.  When colleagues practice those shifts in their working environment, statistics show increases in problem solving among teams, employee innovation, workplace retention, and morale.

Women in Science and Engineering

WISE​ enables and energises people in business, industry, and education to increase the participation, contribution, and success of women in STEM. WISE members inspire girls to choose math, physics, and computing, and helps its partners attract, retain, develop, and progress female talent in their organisations. Its mission is gender balance in STEM, from the classroom to the boardroom.
