Bechtel has managed the Jubail project, located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, since it began in the mid-1970s. In 2004, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu asked Bechtel to manage Jubail II, an 8,300-hectare expansion of the city’s industrial and residential areas. The city with an extensive industrial complex has been planned and built on the location of a former fishing village on the Persian Gulf. Today, Jubail is Saudi Arabia’s industrial center, contributing 7% of the country’s GDP.

Bechtel workforce in Jubail is very diverse and provides a rich mixture of ethnic and national heritage, making the project an interesting and challenging community in which to live and work.
