PERUMIN 36 Mining Convention
Investment that generates welfare and sustainable development
PERUMIN is celebrating its 36th edition in 2023 with the motto “Investment that generates welfare and sustainable development.” The event, organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), is a benchmark for mining in Peru and Latin America and has become a platform to promote the region's resources and innovative solutions to generate access to vital resources for the energy transition. “Thanks to mining, and the growing global demand for minerals, we have the opportunity to strengthen the foundations of a society with equal opportunities for everyone,” according to PERUMIN’s organizers.
PERUMIN combines an exhibitors area with more than 1,400 stands, along with a series of conferences and talks, which this year will include the Technology, Innovation and Sustainability Forum.
A message from Carlos Alarco…
The 36th edition of PERUMIN coincides with the celebration of Bechtel's 125th anniversary and 50 years in Peru. In 1973, our organization began its operations in this country with the engineering and construction of the North Peruvian oil pipeline, whose components, equipment and pumps continue to operate optimally five decades later. That was the beginning of a journey that has included challenging and emblematic projects such as Antamina, Antapaccay, Las Bambas and the expansion of Jorge Chavez Airport.
Our history continues to mobilize us in alignment with our customers’ objectives, enabling the execution of projects that provide access to the resources necessary for a cleaner and greener future. And we do so through innovative concepts and designs to execute projects that meet the industry's sustainable commitments.
We are excited to meet you at PERUMIN 36 to discuss how we can contribute to the development of future mining projects. We hope to see you at the adjacent stands 88 and 105.
Carlos Alarco, Country Manager for Peru and Region President, Latin America
Unlocking Resources for the Future
The mining sector is critical to underpinning the energy transition as the shift toward clean energy drives a huge increase in the need for the commodities that our customers produce.
Our customers are unlocking the resources for the future enabling the transition to electromobility, renewable energy, digitization, and smart infrastructure. And as the global population continues to grow, our customers are mining for the key ingredients to boost agricultural productivity and deliver social and economic growth for a better future.
The mining industry is looking to extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way that is more sustainable than the past, more attuned to local stakeholders / traditional landowners, and more focused on net zero and water usage. Bechtel has a critical role in supporting these efforts alongside our customers.
For Bechtel, the challenge is to deliver these commodities more efficiently and more responsibly so as to meet the world’s ESG expectations and enable energy transition, electromobility, urbanization, and food security. Mining and metals customers rely on Bechtel to deliver their world class assets including copper and gold concentrators, industrial water supply systems, iron ore and bauxite bulk materials handling facilities, refineries, aluminum smelters, and phosphate plants.
By aligning everything we do to our customers’ goals, Bechtel can help achieve operational and performance excellence. We combine industry-leading innovation and integrated EPC for greater capital efficiency, and our unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and ethics helps us ensure we leave a lasting positive legacy in the communities we serve.
