Bechtel’s Impact Report

Colleagues making a difference: Alberta Brown

We caught up with colleagues who are making a difference in their communities as a response to COVID-19. In this series, we learn how each of them is stepping up and what they’ve learned in the process.

Bechtel’s Alberta Brown has transitioned her 140-mile round-trip commute into crafting sessions for those in need at her home. She has been sewing masks and crafting cards continuously in her basement for family members, nursing homes, and others.

“There’s nothing too little that you can do,” says Alberta. “Even if we just stay home, that’s doing something for the effort.”

Alberta describes crafting as her therapy, and it’s coming in handy now more than ever. With more than 50 masks and 30 cards already delivered in response to COVID-19, she has no plans to stop anytime soon.

Listen below as we learn how it's all done and what she's learned from this pandemic.
