Shelley Henderson is the Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusions for FIRST—For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

Shelly Henderson has spent nearly a quarter-century working as a youth development specialist, certified teacher, non-profit executive, university program coordinator, adjunct professor, community organizer and public policy advocate. Shelley is leading a regional implementation of My Brother’s Keeper in the Heartland, serving as a lead facilitator and point of contact for the Obama Foundation, among several volunteer roles. She lives by Marian Wright Edelman’s credo, “Service is the rent we pay for being.”

Shelley earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and her master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is looking forward to resuming on her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

She lives in Omaha, Nebraska, with her five children and enjoys two grandchildren. Shelley spends too much time on social media─sharing professional resources, social justice rants and her personal journey. Follow her on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. And don’t hesitate to ask her what she’s reading—she is an avid reader as well.
