The plant will produce 600,000 tons per year of polymer-grade ethylene when operational in the fourth quarter of 2001. Construction will commence in the third quarter of 1999. Project headquarters will be in Bechtel's London office, with teams working simultaneously in Munich and London. The value of the contract exceeds $600 million.
The project is the first award for Alliance Bechtel-Linde (ABL). The alliance joins the well established olefins technology of Linde AG, the German technology group based in Weisbaden, with the global engineering, construction, and management expertise of Bechtel.
