Bechtel B&w Idaho Awarded Ineel Contract

Bechtel B&W Idaho consists of Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT), and the Inland Northwest Research Alliance (INRA).

Bechtel is the world's leading nuclear power and environmental firm and BWX Technologies is a world leader in power generation, nuclear operations and emerging energy and environmental technologies. INRA is a seven-university alliance with extensive and nationally recognized capabilities in research, workforce education and training, educational outreach, commercialization, and technology transfer.

Institutions in the research alliance include the University of Idaho, Idaho State University, Boise State University, Utah State University, Montana State University, the University of Montana, and Washington State University.

Bechtel's history in Idaho traces back nearly half a century to its construction of the Experimental Breeder Reactor 1, the world's first facility to produce nuclear-generated electricity.

BWXT's history in Idaho started with the development and operations support for the Advanced Test Reactor, and with Navy programs to develop and deploy nuclear propulsion technologies. In 1991, BWXT was awarded the management and operations contract for the Specific Manufacturing Capability facility.

The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory is an 890-square-mile science-based and applied engineering complex that is located in the eastern part of the state west of Idaho Falls.
