Expanded footprint strengthens local engineering capability, workforce development, and project delivery in Pomerania

Bechtel has opened a new office in Gdańsk, Poland, to support delivery of Poland’s first nuclear power plant and help build the local workforce and engineering capability needed to sustain the country’s growing nuclear industry. The office will serve as an engineering and operations hub for the AP1000 project in Choczewo, with a focus on hiring local engineers, expanding partnerships with Polish companies, and strengthening collaboration with regional universities and institutions.

Located in the Alchemia business complex, the office will support engineering, construction planning, and project execution and has capacity for several hundred employees as the project advances. The new location builds on Bechtel’s growing presence in Poland following the opening of its Warsaw office in 2023 and reflects the company’s long-term commitment to developing in-country capability for one of Poland’s largest energy infrastructure projects.

Bechtel marks the official opening of its new office in Gdańsk, expanding its presence in Poland.

“Poland is implementing one of the most important infrastructure and energy projects in its history,” said Leszek Hołda, President of Bechtel Polska. “The opening of our Gdańsk office strengthens our presence in Pomerania and brings our team closer to the communities, institutions, and companies helping deliver this project. We are building engineering capability in the region, creating opportunities for Polish professionals, and increasing participation by Polish companies in the project and the broader nuclear supply chain.”

Bechtel is working to strengthen Poland’s long-term engineering and construction capability through partnerships with regional academic institutions, including Gdańsk University of Technology, as well as local hiring, training, and supplier development initiatives. The company continues to work with Polish businesses to expand the country’s nuclear supply chain and increase participation by Polish companies and specialists in the delivery of Poland’s first nuclear power plant.

The Warsaw office will continue to serve as Bechtel’s central hub in Poland, while the Gdańsk office will function as a key operational and engineering center supporting project execution in Pomerania.
