Carbon Capture Canada

Capital for Accelerated Momentum

We are at a decisive phase for heavy emitters, with geopolitical shifts, decarbonization targets and industry uncertainty adding pressure to the energy sector. This year Carbon Capture Canada, Canada’s national carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) Convention, will explore the critical role of CCS in the global energy transition, with a focus on capital investment, emerging technologies, geopolitics, and carbon markets. As a pioneer in in the low-carbon economy, Canada has established huge fund support for low-carbon technology development. Yet, continued collaboration across industry and governments remains essential to ensure CCS is a viable and necessary tool in accelerating global decarbonization in an evolving geopolitical landscape.

The conference returns to Edmonton at a make-or-break juncture for public and private sectors. With carbon removal project developer Deep Sky set to commence operations this year, federal investment in carbon management technologies under the Energy Innovation Program, and the advancement of Heidelberg’s groundbreaking CCUS project at its cement plant in Edmonton, the progress is tangible.

The global CCUS sector is expected to see a record number of final investment decisions (FIDs) in 2025, with around 200 projects aiming for approval. This shift from project announcements to execution will no doubt inform Canada’s CCUS strategies. Collaboration across industry and governments is essential to ensure CCS is a viable and necessary tool in accelerating decarbonization in an evolving geopolitical landscape.

Featuring an extensive exhibition floor, strategic and technical sessions, interactive workshops and site tours, Carbon Capture Canada offers a unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators in the CCUS sector.
