Perth Airport

Strengthening Australia’s Western Gateway

Bechtel has been selected as Delivery Partner for Perth Airport’s multi-billion-dollar expansion and upgrade program – one of the largest aviation infrastructure projects in Australasia. This transformative program of major projects will enhance connectivity, improve passenger experience, and drive economic growth across Western Australia and beyond.

Building a Future-Ready Airport

The expansion will:
  • Introduce a third runway to increase airfield capacity.
  • Increase the size of terminal facilities and deliver a consolidated terminal precinct, integrating domestic and international services.
  • Add Perth Airport’s first hotel and two multi-story car parks.
  • Upgrade landside infrastructure to support growing passenger volumes.

Passenger numbers are expected to grow from 16 million to 20 million annually by 2030, reinforcing Perth’s role as the Western Gateway to Australia.

Partnering For Excellence

Bechtel began as Capital Portfolio Partner in early 2025 to establish governance, tools, and processes to integrate the projects and set the program up for success. In late 2025 Bechtel was appointed Delivery Partner, forming an integrated team with Perth Airport to manage design and delivery of construction projects across the live operating environment.

Impact

This program is the largest ever at Perth Airport. It will:
  • Create around 4,000 construction jobs.
  • Boost tourism and create jobs and supply chain opportunities across Western Australia.
  • Support long-term economic growth and regional development. By 2046 it is forecast that Perth Airport will contribute $17billion to the State’s economy annually.
  • Deliver a modern, efficient airport experience for millions of travelers.
