The Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) construction site near Richland, Washington, was recently recognized with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status–the highest level of VPP recognition. Bechtel is designing and building WTP, the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant, for DOE.

Since its inception in 1994, DOE-VPP has promoted safety and health excellence through cooperative efforts among labor, management, and government at DOE contractor sites.
