Bechtel Corporation has been named the top U.S. contractor in 2010 by Engineering News-Record (ENR), a leading U.S. trade publication for the construction industry. This marks the 12th consecutive year that Bechtel has ranked first.

“We are pleased to once again earn this prestigious honor," said Chairman and CEO Riley Bechtel. "Our success is due in no small part to the unwavering commitment of our employees to safety and quality work. Receiving this recognition is something for which everyone at Bechtel can be proud. Bechtel had a solid year in 2009 and we remain focused on delivering for our customers in 2010.”

Bechtel’s global reach across multiple industries contributed to the company’s top ranking. Bechtel is helping customers build roads and rail systems in Europe and the United States, airports and ports in the Middle East, liquefied natural gas processing plants in Africa and Australia and copper smelters in Latin America. Bechtel is also managing important defense and energy work for the U.S. government. Recently, Bechtel signed a landmark agreement to construct the world’s largest solar thermal complex in California’s Mojave Desert, underscoring the company’s commitment to renewable energy sources and new technologies.

In addition to being ranked #1 on the Top 400 contractors list, Bechtel was also ranked first on the following specialized lists:
