BECHTEL CIVIL SIGNS $2.5 BILLION ROMANIAN MOTORWAY PROJECT

The four-lane motorway, stretching from Brasov in the Romania interior to Oradea on the Romania-Hungarian border, forms an important section of the Romanian national motorway system. It will link the Black Sea, via Bucharest, to Central and Western Europe. This project will form a vital artery, bringing important economic benefits to Romania as it prepares for accession to the European Union in 2007.

This is the largest motorway project in Europe. The Bechtel venture's scope of work comprises the motorway's design and construction. Construction is scheduled to commence in June 2004.
