Building a Mining and Processing Facility to Support U.S. Energy Transition and Strengthen Energy Security

Bechtel is performing the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for Phase 1 of the Lithium Americas mine and processing facility in Humboldt County, Nevada called Thacker Pass, the site of the largest known lithium deposit in the U.S.

To make this $2.9 billion greenfield project a reality, Bechtel and a world-class team of contractors will be hiring craft professionals, including journey people and apprentices. 

Bechtel is partnering with the North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) to provide a worksite that is safe, welcoming, and harassment and intimidation-free.

Finding Job Openings

The project will require the various craft professions listed below which are resourced through the Building Trades to complete the project safely, with quality, and in a timely manner. 

Any craft professionals looking for work opportunities on this project will be required to be dispatched through the appropriate local union.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships will be available for earn-while-you-learn job training. Click here to inquire.  

Paid apprenticeship programs include rigorous academics and advanced training for industry-recognized credentials in more than ten building and construction fields. And the credentials are portable: after your training, you can take them anywhere — even overseas.

Work Rotation, Conditions and Accommodations

  • Options for work rotations are being finalized. 
  • Wages and benefits are paid per the appropriate local union collective agreement for the specific trade.
  • Approved overtime and shift differential for the second shift.
  • Nevada has no state income tax.
  • Accommodations will be provided for non-locals at a dedicated, self-contained complex in Winnemucca, Nevada, featuring private rooms with a shower, meals, exercise, recreation, medical facilities and coach bus travel to the worksite. RV option available.
