Improving Infrastructure
A Bechtel-led team is also overseeing construction of a 13-mile (21-kilometer) twin-bore tunnel that will be the centerpiece of Crossrail, a new railway connecting London to commuter areas east and west of the city.
Today, we are working with the Defence Equipment and Support team to assist the government in procuring military equipment efficiently and cost-effectivel

Leading efforts to provide low-carbon electricity in the UK, Bechtel has been selected alongside joint venture partners to help deliver a new, two-reactor nuclear plant in Wales for Horizon Nuclear Power; and Bechtel is driving development of a new small, modular nuclear reactor program aimed at deploying more affordable, factory made units to replace ageing coal-fired plants.

Ongoing work also includes gas development, refinery, and liquefied natural gas projects in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Current and recent projects include the Reliance Jamnagar Export project, partly engineered in London, which has taken the capacity of this refinery to 1.2 million barrels per day. Other projects include major gas processing facilities in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia.

Our team is active in stewardship activities throughout the UK that promote careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Working with Engineers Without Borders, we also support community-driven sustainable design and development programs around the world

Bechtel and The National Skills Academy

IMAX® DREAM BIG IN THE UK
The Bechtel sponsored IMAX® film Dream Big: Engineering Our World, UK premiere was in Bath University at the Bechtel sponsored IET’s FIRST® LEGO® League International Open Championship. Over 700 children aged 9-16 representing 36 countries from across the world taking part in the competition had the opportunity to be inspired by the film.
Bechtel is proud to be in partnership with the Science Museum to support the Year of Engineering. Our partnership focuses on the extension of the museum’s successful Engineer Your Future exhibition which uses interactive games to give young people the opportunity to find out what it takes to be an engineer.
The Bechtel-sponsored 3D film, Dream Big: Engineering Our World, which celebrates the ingenuity and innovation behind major feats of engineering, is being screened at the Science Museum in London and at National Science and Media Museum’s theatres over the course of the partnership.
