Cricket Valley Energy Center

Powering New York with Cleaner, More Efficient Energy

Bechtel partnered with Cricket Valley Energy LLC, an affiliate of Advanced Power, to deliver a 1,100-megawatt combined-cycle power facility in Dover, New York. Built on a dormant industrial site, the Cricket Valley Energy Center (CVEC) now delivers low-carbon, affordable, safe, and reliable electricity — enough to power approximately 1 million homes in New York.

The project prioritized local economic benefits, clean energy technology, and environmental stewardship — earning its place as one of the most efficient power-generation facilities in the United States.

Sustainable Design

CVEC features advanced emissions-control technology and a low-impact layout that reduces noise and visual impacts for the surrounding community. Its combined-cycle configuration maximizes energy efficiency while minimizing carbon intensity. Built on a revitalized brownfield site, the facility delivers both energy and economic renewal to the region.

Community Investment

The project significantly contributed to the local economy by awarding more than $400 million in engineering, procurement, and construction contracts to local businesses and spending an additional $8 million with 147 local suppliers. It also supported union apprenticeships and provided funding, equipment, and volunteer support to local schools and community groups.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team donated over 1,000 N95 masks to the local hospital and emergency responders as well as $25,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley on behalf of the Bechtel COVID-19 Relief Fund.
