  • Americas, Press Release

Bechtel has turned over the Oak Creek power plant expansion project in Oak Creek, Wisconsin to the plant operator, Wisconsin Electric Power Company.  The move signals the completion of the plant, which is now one of the most efficient coal-fired power plants in the United States.

“This is a tremendous achievement that was the result of a collaborative effort,” said Alasdair Cathcart, president of Bechtel’s Power business unit. “The successful completion of this megaproject is a testimony to the dedication and commitment of everyone, including the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup team members, who worked tirelessly on it.”

The expansion, which broke ground in 2005, involved the construction of two 615-megawatt coal-fired generating units.  Unit 1 was turned over on February 2, 2010; Unit 2 was turned over January 12, 2011.
