In an article in POWER magazine, Bechtel engineers discuss several alternative cooling technologies that have been successfully utilized to reduce water use or consumption and evaluate their applicability for future power plant designs. Cooling water is essential to a power plant’s ability to produce electricity. In an effort to conserve fresh water supplies, today’s power plants are being designed to utilize water of a lesser quality, and to minimize the amount water required for proper plant operation.  Read the article.
