Corporate Manager of Construction
As Bechtel's corporate manager of construction, Doug Omichinski provides functional leadership for construction activities across the company’s business units, projects, and supporting organizations–Welding Services, Construction Technology, and Bechtel Equipment Operations. He provides guidance and oversight to ensure the consistency and efficiency of work processes, the safety of project operations, and the quality of construction deliverables.
Previously, as the project manager at the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant and Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, Doug led joint venture teams in designing, constructing, and testing the facilities.
Doug is a Bechtel principal vice president and has 38 years of international and domestic experience with Bechtel on 23 large, heavy industrial, construction and engineering projects. After launching his Bechtel career as a controls system design engineer, he soon moved to construction and progressed through field engineering, field supervision, and site management positions on projects in the Power, M&M, OG&C, and NS&E business units. He has also served as the Manager of Construction for NS&E.
Doug earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and is currently on the Executive Committee of the Construction Industry Institute. He is a Certified Professional Constructor, Project Management Professional, and Certified Construction Manager.
