Alterra Partners Signs 30-Year Concession Agreement to Operate Curacao International

London, England - May 7, 2003 On April 25, 2003, Curaçao Airport Partners, a consortium led by Alterra Partners—an affiliate of Bechtel Enterprises—signed a 30-year concession agreement to develop and operate Curaçao International Airport in the Netherlands Antilles. The Consortium also includes Trabajos Industriales y Mecánicos, C.A. and Janssen de Jong.Under the concession agreement Alterra Partners will take responsibility for operating and developing the airport and will transfer its technical and operational experience and know-how to the Curaçao airport team. Transition activities started on 1 May.
As part of the concession, the Consortium will design and construct a new passenger terminal with a capacity of 1.6 million passengers per year in accordance with IATA Level of service standards “C”. These works are to be completed within three years of financial close at an estimated cost of US$ 35 million.
The engineering, procurement and construction works will be performed by affiliates of Bechtel.
