Since 2009, Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation has operated the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration and the U.S. Navy.

Each lab develops advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology and provides technical support for the safe and reliable operation of reactors in nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers.
Bechtel also operates Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc., which serves the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The company provides manages design and procurement for the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of high-quality nuclear power plant components used in U.S. submarines and aircraft carriers.
In addition, we provide upgraded and replacement components during refueling and overhauls, as well as deliver information technology solutions to improve the fleet’s efficiency and effectiveness.
