Early Career Opportunities at Bechtel

Early Career Opportunities at Bechtel

Our graduate programmes are available in two of our global business units within EMEA; Infrastructure (markets include; rail, aviation, civil, power and communications) and Oil Gas & Chemicals (OG&C). The programme is accredited and will enable you to work towards chartership in your chosen area. What’s more, we’ll help you develop a sound technical competency and provide you with project experiences to give you the best possible chance of achieving chartered status.

Our Graduate Programmes

Within Infrastructure you could be working directly on some of our internationally-renowned mega projects or providing support to the Head Office function that you join. Our work mainly focuses on the engineering project management and construction phase of the project and location of our projects can vary from local London based opportunities to international opportunities in EMEA.

In our Oil, Gas & Chemicals London office you will mainly be working on the engineering design phase of the project, once the project moves into the construction phase there will be opportunity to undertake an international assignment and gain construction experience.

Whether you join us as a contracts administrator or as a process engineer, you’ll be given real responsibility from the day you begin. As the programme progresses, we'll continuously look for new ways in which you can develop your technical knowledge and gain more responsibility.

We understand that graduates play a vital role in our business, they add value not only to their function, team, project and client but to the organisation as a whole by helping us build our future capabilities one step at a time.

Internship Scheme

Our 10-week Infrastructure Internship Programme is open to all undergraduates, visit our recruitment pages to see how you can apply. In most cases, you’ll be assigned to a project or placed in an office where you can support our day-to-day operations. During this time, you’ll see how our business works and take on tasks that will give you valuable experience – all while having a real impact on our organisation.

We rely on you to be a fresh pair of eyes and to challenge the status quo, helping us find new ways to work more efficiently. All of our interns have real responsibility and the opportunity to leave their mark on some of our most challenging projects.

The internship is fully-structured and begins with an induction and site tour. Other features include:

  • Setting personal goals to help you get the most out of your internship
  • Working with a dedicated supervisor to ensure your workload challenges you
  • Access to a variety of social events, such as Royal Ascot, Sports Day and much more
  • Exposure to senior management through speaker series and Q&A sessions
  • The opportunity for all interns to share their experience with each other and senior management

Please note that although we accept applications from all years, we prefer applications from penultimate-year students.
