Building a Culture of Belonging

A global company with global customers, helping to solve complex global challenges, Bechtel has long been home to colleagues from a multitude of nationalities, cultures, ethnicities, and life experiences.

We believe that diverse and inclusive companies attract and retain strong talent, foster innovation and creative problem solving, better understand local customers and communities, and offer richer and more rewarding career experiences.

Our Vision, Values and Commitments (VV&Cs) set a standard for respecting each other, embracing differences, seeking diverse views, listening to understand, and working together as “One Team.”  This begins with ensuring that we create a culture of belonging and an equitable workplace where people feel valued, respected, welcomed, and treated fairly.

Today, we are working to embed the principles of diversity and inclusion even more deeply into Bechtel’s policies and practices. We updated our Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Action Plan, focused on three pillars: Talent, Culture, and Accountability. We also created our D&I Roadmap, setting out specific goals and objectives for each pillar of our action plan. We continue to build on these efforts with a focus on how we hire, how we promote, and how we create a sense of belonging.

Three pillars

    Talent

We will attract, engage, and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the makeup of society, our customers, and the communities where we live, work, and serve.

  • Culture

We will foster an inclusive, bias-free workplace aligned with our VV&Cs, where everyone feels valued, respected, welcomed, and treated fairly.

  • Accountability

We will maintain a governance process, ensuring we employ best practices and bring transparency and accountability to our challenges, plans, and progress toward meeting our D&I goals.
