Endorsement will formalise commitment to First Nations communities and advance reconciliation
Bechtel has today launched its Reconciliation Action Plan following endorsement by Reconciliation Australia, in a formal commitment to expand access and opportunity for First Nations people across its projects and operations in Australia. Artwork by Gladstone First Nations artist Jarrod Beezley was unveiled during the launch, recognizing the foundation and growth of Bechtel’s work across the nation.
"While we have always established programs on our projects to provide opportunities for First Nations participation, this RAP enables us to formalize our commitments and measure progress across our business,” said Bechtel Australia Chair Leigh Clifford. “This is an important step to continue supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce, and supply chain."

The Reconciliation Action Plan will enable Bechtel to take meaningful action to advance reconciliation within the industry and wider community. Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, the RAP will provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and increase economic equity.
Over the past 60 years in Australia, Bechtel has delivered projects in every state and territory across a portfolio spanning mining, energy and infrastructure projects.
