ISO 9001:2008 is Global Industry Standard

Bechtel today announced that Bechtel Nuclear, Security & Environmental, Inc. and its subsidiaries were recertified under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 standard for quality management systems for another period of three years.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification is the global industry standard for quality management in corporations and organizations and provides companies with criteria to meet customer needs. Certification involves a demanding audit of multiple company locations.

“Meeting this standard is a direct reflection of the commitment and effectiveness of our people applying our procedures to meet our client's goals and expectations,” said Craig Albert, president of Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental global business unit. “It confirms Bechtel’s dedication to customer focus at all levels and executing processes to ensure continual improvement of each function within the company.”

Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental business includes chemical weapons demilitarization projects, commercial nuclear reactor services, engineering, construction, procurement, project management, and environmental restoration and recovery.

The organization was originally certified with the ISO 9001:2008 standard in 2012. Recertification was recommended after an independent auditor reviewed office and project systems and processes. Additionally, Bechtel’s Infrastructure, Mining and Metals, and Oil, Gas and Chemicals companies all are certified.
