Bechtel’s ThruPlus® Coking Technology Selected for Croatian Refinery

Bechtel has signed a license agreement with INA Industrija Nafte, d.d. for the process design of a delayed coking unit complex at the Rijeka refinery in Urinj, Croatia. The new complex will use Bechtel’s ThruPlus® coking technology, a proprietary process for upgrading heavy oil into high-value, light hydrocarbon liquids.

Bechtel announced that the 377-megawatt Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is now operational and delivering electricity to California customers. The solar-thermal facility, which is the world’s largest, features three 450-foot-high towers that produce enough clean, renewable electricity to power 140,000 homes. Bechtel provided engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up services for the project. Ivanpah, located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California, is a joint effort of NRG, Google, and BrightSource Energy.

Bechtel-led Team Surpasses 75 Percent Mark on Weapons Disposal Project Construction

Bechtel announced that construction of the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant’s main plant facilities is now more than 75 percent complete. Bechtel leads the team, Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass, that is building the pilot plant for the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (PEO ACWA) program. When finished and fully tested, the facility will safely destroy the stockpile of chemical nerve-agent weapons stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot outside Richmond, Kentucky.
