Bechtel announced that the 377-megawatt Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is now operational and delivering electricity to California customers. The solar-thermal facility, which is the world’s largest, features three 450-foot-high towers that produce enough clean, renewable electricity to power 140,000 homes. Bechtel provided engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up services for the project. Ivanpah, located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California, is a joint effort of NRG, Google, and BrightSource Energy.
