Bechtel-Built Solar Project Delivers First Power

The California Valley Solar Ranch (CVSR) has delivered its first 22 megawatts (MW) of power to San Luis Obispo County, California. Bechtel is building the 250-MW solar facility for NRG Energy and SunPower. CVSR is one of the largest central station photovoltaic solar plants in the world and has created approximately 350 jobs since construction started in September 2011.

Bechtel’s Kosovo Motorway Project Wins International Award

The Bechtel-Enka Kosovo Motorway project has won the program management award in the International Road Federation’s Global Road Achievement Awards 2012. The awards recognize best practices from leading road and highway projects around the world. They are designed to provide a road map for others to follow in continuously improving and advancing road development worldwide.

Bechtel Selected to Bid Next Phase of Dulles Rail Project

Bechtel has been selected by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) to submit a proposal to design and build Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. Phase 2 will provide rail service between Washington, D.C., and Washington Dulles International Airport. The company is currently building the first phase of the new rail line and is one of five teams to make MWAA’s short list of Phase 2 bidders.

Bechtel Provides Views on State of U.S. Environmental Cleanup Work

Bechtel announced today five of its leading authorities on environmental cleanup will share their insights at the 24th Annual Weapons Complex Monitor Waste Management & Cleanup Decision Makers’ Forum. The event takes place this week in Amelia Island, Florida.The forum brings together senior representatives from Congress, federal agencies, including the Department of Energy, state governments, and major environmental cleanup contractors. The theme for this year’s conference is "Raising the Bar on Project Performance to Address Long-Term Challenge."

Bechtel and Subsea 7 to Pursue Offshore Wind and Transmission Projects

Bechtel and Subsea 7 announced today that they will work together to develop offshore wind and associated transmission projects in Europe, including the UK and Germany. The non-exclusive joint approach provides customers with Bechtel’s unmatched experience designing and building some of the world’s most complex projects and Subsea 7’s global expertise in seabed-to-surface engineering and construction. Together they provide developers and utilities a single contracting group to take responsibility for the delivery of their projects.
