Bechtel Engineer Talks About Ace Mentor Program

05 February 2010 FREDERICK, Maryland

Bechtel environmental engineer Kyra Davis discusses the important role ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program had in her choosing a career in engineering. Read the Gazette story.

ACE is a hands-on program in which mentors encourage high school students to pursue further education and careers in the architecture, construction, and engineering professions. In 2005, Bechtel employees started an affiliate in Frederick, Maryland, which has since expanded to include other major employers in the Frederick County. Bechtel employees also started affiliates in Houston, Texas, and Pueblo, Colorado. Kyra Davis is the first ACE Frederick graduate who completed the full circle – upon graduating from college in December 2009, she joined Bechtel as an environmental engineer.

America’s engineers contribute more than one million hours to public service each year. This year, to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Engineers Week DiscoverE educational outreach program, Bechtel is supporting many of the educational activities in our office and project locations. Engineers Week in 2010 is February 14-18.
