Bechtel Awarded Contracts for Bettis, Knolls Laboratories

The five-year contracts with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command are valued at $6 billion. BMPC will assume operation of the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories on Feb. 1, 2009 following a four-month transition period. BMPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI).   

The Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, with locations in Pittsburgh, PA; Idaho Falls, ID; and Charleston, SC, is currently operated by Bechtel Bettis, Inc. The Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, in Schenectady, NY, is currently operated by KAPL, Inc., a Lockheed Martin company."We are very pleased to be able to continue our service for DOE and the U.S. Navy in support of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program," said Bechtel National’s Chairman Scott Ogilvie.
