Bechtel to Manage Development for Crossrail Project
Bechtel will work with Cross London Rail Links (CLRL), a joint venture company between Transport for London and the Department for Transport that is leading the project. Bechtel will manage a team of design and cost consultants that will help produce a reference design for the proposed line, known as Crossrail. It would connect Maidenhead to Shenfield and Abbey Wood.
CLRL officials said Bechtel was chosen following a "rigorous selection and procurement process." "They are an internationally renowned company with direct experience in schemes of this stature and a reputation for delivery, and I look forward to working with them to deliver Crossrail to London and the UK," said Keith Berryman, CLRL's acting chief executive.
"We are delighted at the opportunity to work with CLRL on this exciting and important project," said Mike Adams, president of Bechtel's Civil business unit, which will carry out the work "'We look forward to using our experience in delivering major rail infrastructure projects in the UK to support CLRL and ensure the final Crossrail scheme is one of which London can be proud."
Bechtel was one of six finalists for the development management work.
A bill to authorize the Crossrail project is currently under consideration in Parliament. For more information, visit the Crossrail Web site at
