On April 25, 2003, Curaçao Airport Partners, a consortium led by Alterra Partners—an affiliate of Bechtel Enterprises—signed a 30-year concession agreement to develop and operate Curaçao International Airport in the Netherlands Antilles. The Consortium also includes Trabajos Industriales y Mecánicos, C.A. and Janssen de Jong.

The Millmerran Power facility, an 840 megawatt, coal-fired power plant, was dedicated in a ceremony attended by Queensland Premier Peter Beattie and other federal, state and local dignitaries. The $900 million power plant and supporting infrastructure represents the second largest private investment in Queensland and the largest such project in the world to be funded on a non-recourse project finance basis.

Bechtel Enterprises Holdings, Inc. (Bechtel) announced it will suspend its efforts to site an LNG receiving terminal, storage facility, and associated power plant on Mare Island, near Vallejo, California. The company has been exploring the possibility for a little over a year.

Intergen Announces Plan to Install Emissions Control Technology on Boarder Power Facility in Mexico

InterGen announced a plan to install additional Selective Catalytic Reduction technology (SCR) on its La Rosita Energy Facility in Mexicali, Mexico. SCR technology significantly reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx), a precursor to smog. SCR is the best commercially available pollution technology to reduce NOx and is required for new plants in California.
