Nexant's Annual Chem Systems Seminar Attracts P&C Industry Experts

Mr. H. J. Haynes, Nexant director and former chairman and CEO of Chevron Texaco will formally open the proceedings. Sir John Jennings, former chairman and director of Shell Transport, will deliver the opening day keynote address, and Mr. John Taylor, CEO of Borealis, will deliver the keynote on the second day. These distinguished speakers will be joined by Nexant specialists as well as experts drawn from the financial community, industrial firms, and technology providers.

Seminar presentations will cover the full spectrum of topics, from upstream oil and gas to downstream refining and chemicals, to provide an integrated perspective of the major drivers and issues facing the petroleum and chemical industries. Key sector topics include European, Middle Eastern, and U.S. petrochemical prospects; creating value from acquisitions and technology; and the outlook for global refining. Industry experts will provide analysis on key business areas such as gas-to-liquids, aromatics olefins, polyolefins, and speciality additives. The two-day event concludes on the afternoon of 14 February with a plenary session on operational initiatives covering R&D management through to real life e-business solutions for the industry.

The seminar is a key event to inaugurate Nexant's http://www.nexant.com/ recent acquisition of Chem Systems, a leading chemical and petroleum business and technology consultancy. The acquisition has enabled Nexant to significantly expand its product and service offerings to the petrochemical and chemical industries. The Chem Systems organisation has been successfully merged with Nexants oil and gas business unit to form a global petroleum and chemicals (P&C) sector division, with a depth of resources in Europe and the Americas, and plans to grow significantly in  in Asia. The P&C division offers the most fully integrated range of consulting services of any consulting firm—from the well head to speciality chemicals.

As Nexant transforms itself into one of the largest industry-focused energy and chemical consulting firms, it is also redefining the consulting services business model, combining industry expertise and analytical skills with a new range of customer-focused technology solutions, including web-based software applications and analytical tools. In April, Nexant is scheduled to deploy its new web-based analytical tools and content for the petroleum and chemicals industry under its ChemSystems Online brand. A press briefing introducing Nexant and launching ChemSystems Online will be held on Wednesday evening, 13 February, at 7:00 PM in the Victoria Room of the Royal Garden Hotel, 2-24 Kensington High Street, London W8 4PT.

Nexant recently launched GridSmart (www.gridsmart.net), a suite of advanced energy tools for wholesale electricity marketers, and continues to actively leverage its extensive energy industry expertise to provide specialized technical advisory and management services to major energy players worldwide.
