Cisco Extends Broadband Fixed Wireless Leadership Through Addition Of New World Ecosystem Partners

To give service providers new options for providing broadband fixed wireless services to customers, Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today announced four new Broadband Fixed Wireless Ecosystem partners. Bechtel, Fluor and Getronics are focused on integration, deployment and implementation of carrier-scale, complex networking and Radio Frequency (RF) solutions. Additionally, Netro Corporation's AirStar™ broadband wireless access system will be made available to qualified system integrator partners. These partnerships will extend Cisco's ability to satisfy growing customer demand for broadband wireless solutions.

InterGen announced today that Mexico's ComisiĆ³n Federal de Electricidad (CFE) has awarded InterGen Aztec Energy X B.V., an affiliate of InterGen, a contract for the Rosarito power project. The natural gas-fired, combined cycle plant will be built with a capacity of approximately 750 megawatts, with 66% of the power contracted to CFE and the remaining power to be sold in the United States. The Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) facility will be located near the city of Mexicali in the state of Baja California Norte.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott stood by at the breakthrough of the UK's first high-speed rail tunnel, a major milestone in the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL). Speaking at the breakthrough ceremony, he said, "We are committed to providing people with fast, safe, and reliable transport fit for the 21st century. The North Downs Tunnel is an example of this commitment and has been completed below budget and well within time. It is a key project in Section 1 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link--the greatest civil engineering project in the UK today."

Bechtel National Facilitates Donation Of Former Project Kitchen And Dining Hall To Ukrainian Orphana

With echoes of the cold war as a backdrop, Bechtel National, Inc. is facilitating an international effort to lend a helping hand to a struggling 67-year-old Ukrainian orphanage that is badly in need of assistance.Involved is a donation to the Vorzel Orphanage near Kiev of a 200-person kitchen and dining hall that was once used by Bechtel work crew who are helping to dismantle and destroy a stockpile of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) launch silos and control centers in Ukraine.
