The Royal Dutch/Shell Group and Bechtel Enterprises Holdings, Inc. announced the completion of the agreement to expand the scope of their InterGen joint venture. The agreement broadens InterGen's asset portfolio, enhances value through shareholder strengths, and aligns Shell's energy marketing and trading worldwide with InterGen's position as a global leader in power generation development.

Bechtel National, Inc., and Washington Group International, Inc. today announced they have been awarded an environmental cleanup contract at Hanford by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The contract is expected to extend approximately 10 years. The two companies formed the Bechtel-led team, referred to as Bechtel Washington, to manage the project.

Bechtel Enterprises International Ltd., along with consortium partners Flughafen Frankfurt Main AG and Cosapi S.A., have been awarded a 30-year concession to develop and operate the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru. Transition work starts immediately, with the Consortium officially taking over operations of the airport on February 14, 2001.

Bechtel National, Inc., and SAIC today announced they have been awarded the management and operating contract for the civilian radioactive waste management program by the U.S. Department of Energy. Transition work starts immediately and the $3.1 billion, five-year contract is scheduled to begin on February 12, 2001.

InterGen today announced that it has completed the debt financing for a 50 percent stake in the 840 MW Callide C power facility in Queensland, Australia. Callide C, a coal-fired facility, is projected to begin commercial operations in May of 2001 and is the extension of an existing facility that is currently in operation. The remaining 50 percent stake in Callide C is owned by CS Energy, one of three state government-owned generating companies in Queensland. The project finance facility of $325 million that supports Callide C was supplied by a syndicate of National Australia Bank, Bank of America, and BNP Paribas.

InterGen, through its affiliate Rotterdam Energy Company Ltd., today applied to the Province of South Holland and to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works for licenses to build and operate an 800 MW gas-fired co-generation plant in Rotterdam, Netherlands. InterGen proposes to build this plant on land currently occupied by Nerefco, a refining company, near Pernis in Rotterdam Harbor.

InterGen and its Turkish partner Enka today announced the loan signing of the Gebze, Adapazari, and Izmir natural gas-fired power facilities in Turkey. Taken together, the total financing of $1.5 billion for the three facilities represents one of the largest private sector greenfield power project financings ever completed. Total project cost for the three plants will be over $2 billion.
