Bechtel Manages Successful Launch Of Pcs Network In Jackson, Mississippi

With the help of Bechtel's project and construction management services, Tritel Communications, Inc. successfully launched today its Jackson, Mississippi, wireless telecommunications network. Tritel Communications, Inc. is an AT&T Wireless network affiliate member and will market its services under the SunCom brand name. This network deployment milestone was achieved in only eight months from the time of financial closing.

Principal Vice President Craig D. Weaver has been appointed manager of marketing and business development for Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), the high-technology government contracting arm of Bechtel Group, Inc.Weaver had been serving as BNI's manager of Department of Energy programs. In his new role, he will play the lead role in focusing on BNI's strategic plan and in assessing and developing new market opportunities for the firm. He replaces Thomas F. Hash, who has been named president of Bechtel National.

Bechtel To Open Frederick Facility—new Home For Bechtel Power And Telecommunications

The official opening of Bechtel's campus-style office facility in Frederick will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m. The facility, known as Bechtel Park, will ultimately include 325,000 square feet of office space on Westview Drive. Two buildings are completed and fully occupied, with additional buildings to deliver in late 1999 and Spring of 2000 to house Bechtel personnel currently located in leased facilities in Frederick. The campus will eventually be home to more than 1700 employees.

InterGen. the international power generation and related energy infrastructure company jointly owned by Shell Generating Limited and Bechtel Enterprises Holdings, Inc., announced that it has completed the debt financing for the Millmerran Power Project, an 840 megawatt coal-fired power plant and 3.6 million tons per year coal mine located near the town of Millmerran in the state of Queensland, Australia. Total project cost is estimated to be approximately $922 million (AUD$1.43 billion), making Millmerran one of the largest greenfield power project financings in Australia, and globally the largest fully merchant greenfield power plant to be financed on a non-recourse project finance basis.
