Peter Dawson is an executive director for Bechtel Group, Inc. (BGI) and formerly the chief financial officer (CFO) and head of the Corporate Services group.
Previously, Peter was president of Bechtel’s Civil Infrastructure business, responsible for a worldwide portfolio of rail, infrastructure, and aviation projects. From 2002 to 2012, he served as CFO of Bechtel Group, Inc., became a senior vice president in 2002, and was elected to the board of directors in 2003.
Peter joined Bechtel in 1978 in London, and he advanced rapidly through a wide range of commercial and financial leadership roles with both corporate and operational responsibilities. From 1990 to 1998, he was based at Bechtel’s corporate headquarters in San Francisco, where he formed and ran the corporate Strategic Marketing and Analysis group.
In 1998, Peter went on to serve in various management capacities in London for Bechtel’s EAMS regional organization. In 2000, he became general manager of the region’s telecommunications and industrial businesses.
Prior to becoming CFO in September 2002, Dawson served in Frederick, Maryland, as a senior vice president of Bechtel Corporation and executive vice president of the Telecommunications & Industrial global business unit.
Peter holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in natural sciences from St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge University, England.
Peter currently serves on the Campaign Board for the University and Colleges of Cambridge, and the Board of Cambridge in America. He also is a director of the independent not-for-profit British Foreign Policy Group.
