John Deshong

John Deshong joined Bechtel in 2005 as head of global tax in the company’s finance function. He was elected a Bechtel principal vice president in 2009. John brought to Bechtel 25 years of extensive tax expertise and responsibility.

He previously served as the vice president of global tax at Edison Mission Group and in various tax legal and leadership positions at Mobil, ARCO Chemical, and Sun Oil Company.

John began his career as a tax attorney with the law firm of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Swarthmore College in suburban Philadelphia.

He also earned both a juris doctor degree and a master of laws (taxation) degree from Villanova University School of Law, also in suburban Philadelphia.
