Head of Global Sectors and Global Aviation Sector Lead
Jim Haynes is a senior vice president of Bechtel Corporation, head of Global Sectors and Global Aviation Sector Lead for Bechtel Infrastructure.
In these roles, he is accountable for developing a deep market understanding and value proposition across the five global sectors that comprise the infrastructure business – Aviation, Rail, Communications, Power and Civils. He also has responsibility for External Affairs/Communications, HR, and a number of strategic initiatives.
Jim rejoined Infrastructure after serving as Bechtel’s Chief Human Resources Manager, where he led a major overhaul of existing practices for compensation and benefits, talent supply, career development, and other elements of the employee experience at Bechtel.
Prior to that assignment, Jim served as president and CEO of Consolidated Nuclear Security, a Bechtel-led company responsible for U.S. nuclear security and deterrence.
During his more than 25-year career at Bechtel, Jim has led organizations ranging from the Mining & Metals global business to the Latin American region to a series of mega-projects, including the $9 billion rebuilding of the Jubliee, Northern and Picadilly Lines of the London Underground. He has also managed Bechtel’s corporate Six Sigma program and served as executive assistant to the chairman/CEO and president/COO. He started his career at Bechtel in 1991 as a marketing and business development manager for the defense & space business.
Jim was elected a partner and Bechtel senior vice president in 2005.
Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and then served as a special operations and infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps for almost 10 years. He earned additional masters degrees in public administration from TSU Europe and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
