General Manager, Environmental
James Taylor is general manager of the Environmental business line of Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security, & Environmental global business unit. He is responsible for oversight and growth of a project portfolio that includes the successful cleanup, decommissioning, remediation, and closure of contaminated sites in the U.S. and overseas.
James joined Bechtel in 2016, bringing with him more than 30 years of nuclear industry expertise in waste management, nuclear operations, field remediation, facility decontamination and decommissioning, as well as nuclear materials processing and recycling.
Prior to joining Bechtel, he was the executive vice president and general manager of AECOM’s Management Services Group, which executed substantial contracts with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in the United Kingdom. During his tenure, James was responsible for the management and operations of complex nuclear and chemical sites, project management services at high-hazard facilities, safety management consulting, nuclear material management and treatment, technology development, and business development.
James also has held leadership roles at URS Corporation’s Global Management and Operations Services business group and Washington Group International where he was responsible for the pursuit of work strategy and management of DOE contracts. Throughout his career, James has been involved in the procurement and execution of some of the largest contracts that he now oversees, including the Hanford Site in Washington state and the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
He was elected a principal vice president of Bechtel in 2017.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Carolina.
