Private Medical Insurance
In the UK, Bechtel offers employees company paid private medical insurance. The benefit is a taxable benefit. For grade 27 and below, employees can opt to include spouse/family members under the company scheme at a cost. For grade 28 and above, the inclusion of spouse/family members is company-paid.

Voluntary Personal Accident Insurance (VPAI)
The company provides employees with company-paid accident insurance at no cost. Additional coverage up to a principal sum of US$150,000 can be purchased for employees and their families at a cost.
Bechtel Limited Career Pension Plan
The plan offers employees the option to save for retirement by investing employee contributions, plus company contributions, into an employees individual pension account. It also provides a range of benefits, offering financial protection for the employee and the employee and their families, both during the employee’s career with the company and after retirement. Under the plan, members may invest in a number of funds. Upon joining the plan employees do not need to choose any funds, as all members are automatically placed in the Passive Lifestyle option. Once a member, employees can change which funds the pension account is invested in.
Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD)
All employees are insured for Long Term Disability insurance on joining the company at no cost. The scheme provides a regular income if the employee is absent from work for a prolonged period due to long term illness or disability. Employees will receive 50 percent of base salary from the scheme after six months absence from work. Payment under the scheme is subject to acceptance by the insurers. This benefit if accepted will continue until the employee returns back to work or reaches the default retirement age of 65.
Learning and Development
Bechtel invests in the development of their employees by providing a range of benefits including Bechtel University online training, mentoring and leadership programmes, approved courses and professional membership reimbursement.
Wellness Programme
The Well programme is offered to all employees at no cost. The programme runs a number of health initiatives on a yearly basis, including such events as Know Your Numbers, nutrition advise and guidance, and breast cancer awareness workshops. Each event is open to all employees on a voluntary basis. The programme also provides a health manager who is on site every Thursday and Friday. The health manager advises employees on health issues such as high blood pressure, BMI, high cholesterol, diabetes, weight management, and work life balance; such issues also compliment the well health risk assessment form that all employees receive at the beginning of employment with Bechtel.
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
Confidential telephone and face-to-face counselling services are offered to all employees at no cost. The EAP helps employees and their family members deal with everyday issues or more serious problems that may affect their health, family life, or job performance. Bechtel recognises that everyone needs some assistance in dealing with the changes and challenges in their lives.
Season Ticket Loan
The company operates a season ticket loan scheme for London office permanent staff in Grades A – 27, inclusive whereby an interest-free loan not exceeding £4,600 may be available for the purchase of quarterly or annual season tickets with repayments made by fortnightly deductions from salary. Loans will be based on the actual cost of second class rail season tickets and/or London Zone Travel Cards between the employee’s home and London office by the most direct route that does not impose undue travel restrictions on the employee.
Child Care Voucher Scheme
Bechtel offers employees the opportunity to join a salary sacrifice scheme, which allows employees to sacrifice a maximum of £220 per month; in return, the employee receives childcare vouchers and savings in tax and National Insurance contributions.
