Bechtel partners with five global non-government organizations that promote education or use engineering and construction skills to improve the quality of life.

  • DiscoverE  Sustains and grows the engineering profession through volunteering, education, and outreach to students.
  • Engineers Without Borders Supports community-driven sustainable design and development programs around the world.
  • FIRST® Robotics Inspires people to be science and technology leaders through mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills.
  • Junior Achievement® Educates kids about workforce readiness,  financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
  • Ocean Exploration Trust Uses the excitement of undersea expeditions to introduce students to science and engineering concepts and to give teachers engaging classroom materials.

As part of Global Stewardship Month, Bechtel offices and sites worldwide celebrated the 14th annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (Girl Day). An international day of events held as part of DiscoverE’s Engineers Week, Girl Day is an opportunity for girls and young women to learn about the possibilities of a career in engineering, engage in hands-on experiments, and meet and learn from scientists and engineers.

In Frederick, Maryland, Bechtel Stewardship volunteer Tim Pugh coached an all-girls Future City team from Visitation Academy. Check out this short video and hear directly from the team about the Future City engineering competition, what inspires Tim to volunteer, and how this experience has sparked a passion for STEM for these potential future engineers!
