I’ve always been aware of Bechtel since I’ve had family members and friends work here, and they always raved about it. I was hired on a part-time basis in February 2006 in San Francisco, while I was finishing up my last quarter in college. Working while still in school was perfect, as it helped me gradually settle in to the role and adjust to the environment. I came on full-time in April 2006 as a communications representative.
I am responsible for a wide range of internal and external communications. I serve as the Webmaster for intranet sites and for Bechtel.com, the corporate Web site. I also write and edit for several internal publications, including the Bechtel Globe newspaper.
I can honestly say that I am never bored working here. My assignments are quite diverse and I enjoy getting a feel for different aspects of the company. The greatest part is being able to work with people in all departments from all over the world. There is so much opportunity, and I am excited to see what my future holds at Bechtel. I hope to become much more knowledgeable not only in corporate communications, but also in business as a whole. Everyday I learn something new, and I love that. I look forward to meeting employees around the world, visiting projects, and constantly enjoying an exciting and fulfilling professional life.
