Safety highlights in 2008
- In August, the U.S. Department of Energy presented Bechtel SAIC Company, management and operating contractor for the Yucca Mountain Project, with its Voluntary Protection Program Legacy of Stars Award. The company is one of only six DOE contractors to earn the award in 2008.
- Also in August, the Bechtel-Enka team at the Albanian motorway project received a certificate of achievement for safety from the Kukës, Albania, Labor Inspectorate.
- In February 2008, the Tube Lines consortium at the London Undergound project was presented with the Rail Safety and Security Excellence award at the HSBC Rail Business Awards program in London.
- Also in February, the Bechtel Jacobs team received the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for safety in cleanup work through the U. S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office.
