Arthur Quern Quality Award
Bechtel’s joint-venture program management team at the Boston Central Artery project has been awarded the Risk and Insurance Management Society’s Arthur Quern Quality Award. The award cites the venture’s development of an electronic personnel-tracking system for use in emergency tunnel evacuations.
Construction Owners Association of Alberta, Canada Safety Leadership Award
Bechtel recognized for its work on the Shell Scotford Upgrader Expansion project in Fort Saskatchewan. The award honors leadership in the development, innovation, and implementation of safety practices that result in significant improvement in safety performance.
DOE Star Status Award - Pueblo Chemical Depot
U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program
Bechtel’s Pueblo Chemical Depot chemical weapons elimination project in Colorado received the highest level of recognition from the program.
DOE Star Status Award - Yucca Mountain Project
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) presented Bechtel SAIC Company, LLC (BSC), with STAR status for safety excellence at the Yucca Mountain Project, where the company is the management and operating contractor for DOE. STAR status recipients are among a select group of DOE facilities that have designed and consistently implemented outstanding safety and health programs. The Yucca Mountain Project is one of only 19 DOE sites to achieve STAR status.
DOE Star of Excellence Award - Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory
For the second year in a row, the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (renamed Idaho National Laboratory in 2005) was recognized with the U.S. Department of Energy's "Star of Excellence" -- one of the nation's highest awards for safety performance. Bechtel is the lead partner in Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC, the Department of Energy's management and operations contractor at INEEL.
DOE Star of Excellence Award- Yucca Mountain Project
Bechtel SAIC Company, LLC received the department’s highest safety award for its management and operation of the Yucca Mountain project. DOE also presented Bechtel with the Legacy of Stars award for having attained the star of excellence status for the fourth consecutive year. Read the article in the Pahrump Valley Times.

Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety
In 2008, Bechtel Jacobs Co. received the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for its cleanup work at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Bechtel Jacobs was honored for its remarkable record in safe work hours at Oak Ridge.
