Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore Teams Rewarded for Science Excellence
R&D Magazine announced that eight project teams from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and five from its Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) were among the winners in its annual R&D 100 Awards competition. Bechtel Awarded Feed Contract in Australia
Bechtel has been awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the first phase of Chevron’s Wheatstone natural gas development in northwest Australia. The first phase of the project consists of two liquefied natural gas processing trains, each with a capacity of about 4.3 million tons per year, and a domestic gas plant.

EPC Terms Sheet Signed for Calvert Cliffs
AREVA and its U.S. consortium partner Bechtel Power Corporation today announced they have signed a term sheet with Baltimore-based UniStar Nuclear Energy outlining the terms and conditions for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for UniStar’s proposed Calvert Cliffs 3 nuclear energy facility project in Maryland. The EPC term sheet agreement is a critical step in negotiating an overall EPC contract.

Bechtel Wins Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association Award
Bechtel has been recognized by the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA) for outstanding performance in installing water-feed pumps at the Elm Road Generating Station in Wisconsin. SC&RA awarded Bechtel the Rigging Job of the Year award in the under $150,000 category.
