    Oak Ridge Waste Management Facility Expansion Ahead Of Schedule, Under Budget

    Bechtel Jacobs Company LLC, (BJC) the lead contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Reservation Environmental Management program in Tennessee, recently completed an expansion of the program’s Environmental Management Waste Management Facility (EMWMF) a month ahead of schedule and under budget. This expansion is part of BJC’s work for the U.S. Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

    Bechtel To Add Liquefaction Facilities At Louisiana LNG Receiving Terminal

    Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P., a subsidiary of Cheniere Energy Inc., announced that its general partner’s Board of Directors has approved the initiation of a project to add liquefaction services at the Sabine Pass LNG receiving terminal in Cameron Parish, LA. Cheniere plans to work with Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals to design and construct the liquefaction facilities, using the ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade liquefaction technology.

    Massive Shield Door Installed At WTP

    • 19 May 2010

    Bechtel’s construction team successfully completed the precision installation of a massive 50-ton (45-metric-ton) shield door at the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) site in Hanford, Washington. The shield door is in a key area of WTP’s High-Level Waste Vitrification Facility and was installed to extremely tight tolerances, down to five-thousandths of an inch (0.13 millimeters), or less than the diameter of a human hair. The new door is one of six that Bechtel will install at WTP.

    Bechtel-Enka JV Awarded Contract To Build Kosovo Motorway

    Bechtel and joint venture (JV) partner Enka today signed a contract with the government of Kosovo for the construction of the Morine-Merdar Motorway that will serve as a centerpiece of the country’s national transportation system. The four-lane motorway will run from the border with Albania at Morine to north of Pristina, Kosovo’s capital.

    Bechtel Announces 2009 Business Results

    Bechtel Corporation today announced 2009 revenue of $30.8 billion; new work booked of $20.3 billion; and backlog revenue of $82.1 billion. Revenue and new work booked for the year were below 2008’s record-breaking results of $31.4 billion and $35 billion, respectively, underscoring the impact of the economic recession on the industry. Backlog revenue was down five percent from $86.5 billion at the end of 2008.

(Ed) Richardson, a former senior vice president and distinguished engineer with Bechtel, has received one of the highest honors given by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE): the Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Lifetime Achievement Award in construction. The award is given for innovation and excellence in the construction of civil engineering projects and/or programs.
