    Bechtel Engineer Featured in College Issue of Diversity Magazine

    Diversity/Careers in Engineering and Information Technology, a publication focused on technical careers for groups traditionally underrepresented in technology, profiled Jason Paredes, a civil engineer at Bechtel, in its Winter/Spring College issue. Jason is currently on an assignment in Chile with the Mining & Metals business unit.

    Safety Innovation Award for Los Alamos Laboratory

    Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) recently received the U.S. Department of Energy Voluntary Protection Program’s Innovation Award for its “best-in-class” safety education program of videos, flyers, and posters.     Significant Progress on Dulles Metrorail

    Construction of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Extension project, which is being built near Washington, D.C., is moving forward above and below ground. Crews have made significant progress on the elevated guideway structure that will carry the Metrorail over I-495, the region's primary highway, as well as Tysons Corner, one of the area's most congested business and retail districts. At the same time, a 2400-foot tunnel is being built under the intersection of Route 123 and International Drive as the traffic continues through Tysons Corner, and as the businesses and residents are going about their daily routines.

    Groundbreaking on Ivanpah Solar

    Bechtel joined BrightSource Energy today in a ceremony to mark the start of construction of the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, a groundbreaking project that will usher in a new era of advanced solar power in the United States.The ceremony was held in California's Mojave Desert next to the Ivanpah site.

    Bechtel-Enka Completes Albanian Motorway

    TIRANA, ALBANIA - Bechtel and joint-venture partner Enka today completed construction on the Albanian Motorway, a 37-mile (61-km), four-lane highway that stretches from central Albania to the to Kosovo border. The motorway is now open to traffic.

    Bechtel Prepares for Construction of Ivanpah

    Bechtel is now working on the site where it will build BrightSource Energy’s Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. Crews began preparing the site on October 8, just one day after the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) issued the Record of Decision, the final permit needed for construction.

    Ivanpah Solar Project Approved

    The California Energy Commission has approved the construction of BrightSource Energy’s Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. Bechtel is partnering with BrightSource to build Ivanpah, which will be the world’s largest solar thermal facility, in the Mojave Desert. The commission’s approval is one of several approvals needed before construction can commence.
