    Ivanpah Solar Project Reaches Halfway Mark and Peak of Construction Employment

    NRG Energy, Google, BrightSource Energy and construction partner Bechtel announced that the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System (Ivanpah SEGS) has reached the halfway mark of construction on the world’s largest solar thermal project. Ivanpah has also reached its peak construction workforce, with more than 2,100 construction workers and project support staff on-site. The $2.2 billion project is on-track to be complete in 2013.

    12 Million Safe Hours at Hanford Waste Treatment Plant

    Bechtel Corporation announced today that workers at the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, known as the Vit Plant, have worked more than 12 million hours without an injury that resulted in a worker missing a single day of work. The impressive achievement was reached on July 16.

    Bechtel Awarded EPC Contract for State-of-the-Art Power Plant in Texas

    Bechtel announced today the company is part of a consortium awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract to build a natural gas-fueled, combined-cycle power plant for Panda Temple Power, LLC, an affiliate of Panda Power Funds. Bechtel and Siemens will design and build the 758-megawatt facility in Temple, Texas, south of Dallas.

    Bechtel Team Completes Dulles Rail Aerial Guideway

    The Bechtel-led team building Phase 1 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project has completed construction of the aerial guideway that will carry Metrorail trains and passengers over major highways and through Tysons Corner, one of Virginia’s busiest retail and business districts.

    Bechtel Delivers Second Stretch of the Kosovo Motorway Ahead of Schedule and Within Budget

    Bechtel and its joint venture partner, Enka, have completed an additional 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) of the Kosovo Motorway, bringing the total distance completed to 26.4 miles (42.5 km). The new section, which opened today, connects to the stretch of motorway delivered in November 2011, which goes from Morinë at the border with Albania to Suhareka. The motorway now extends to the Dule interchange in Northern Kosovo. The latest stretch of motorway was built in less than a year, ahead of schedule and within budget.

    Innovations at Three Bechtel Sites Recognized by Scientific Community

    Researchers at three National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) sites managed and operated by Bechtel partnerships are winners of R&D Magazine’s 2012 R&D 100 Awards, which honor the top 100 proven technological advances of the year. Teams at Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories and the Y-12 National Security Complex received a total of eight awards.

    Los Alamos National Lab Celebrates 1,000th Transuranic Waste Shipment

    Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), which is operated by a team led by Bechtel and the University of California, has made its 1,000th shipment of transuranic waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), a permanent repository near Carlsbad, NM. This is a major environmental milestone for the communities of New Mexico.

    Bechtel Completes Terminal 3 at McCarran Airport on Schedule and Within Budget

    Bechtel has completed the new state-of-the-art Terminal 3 building at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, NV on schedule and within budget. The $2.4 billion, 1.9-million-square foot facility will open to international airlines on June 27. The construction of Terminal 3 is one of many projects Bechtel has managed for Clark County Department of Aviation.
