Bechtel Selected to Bid Next Phase of Dulles Rail Project
Bechtel has been selected by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) to submit a proposal to design and build Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. Phase 2 will provide rail service between Washington, D.C., and Washington Dulles International Airport. The company is currently building the first phase of the new rail line and is one of five teams to make MWAA’s short list of Phase 2 bidders.

Bechtel Marks Major Milestone for LNG Projects in Australia
Bechtel announced the first modules for the Curtis Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects have arrived in Gladstone, Australia. The prefabricated steel structures, which weigh a combined total of 7,716 tons (7,000 tonnes), are for the Queensland Curtis LNG facility, one of three facilities Bechtel is building on the island.

Bechtel Awarded EPC Contract for New Power Plant in Texas
Bechtel announced today the company was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract to build a natural gas-fueled, combined-cycle power plant for Panda Sherman Power, LLC, an affiliate of Panda Power Funds. Bechtel and Siemens formed a consortium to design and build the 758-megawatt facility in Sherman, Texas, north of Dallas. This is the second project Bechtel and Siemens are building for Panda Power Funds. The consortium is also designing and building the Panda Temple Generating Station, another 758-megawatt natural gas-fueled combined-cycle plant in Texas.

Bechtel's ThruPlus® Coking Technology to be Used in Refinery in Mexico
Bechtel has signed a license agreement with Pemex RefinaciĆ³n for the process design of a delayed coking unit (DCU) complex for the new Tula refinery project in Hidalgo, Mexico. The DCU complex will use Bechtel’s ThruPlus® Coking technology, a proprietary process for upgrading heavy oil into high value, light hydrocarbon liquids.

Bechtel, along with representatives from Panda Temple Power, LLC, an affiliate of Panda Power Funds, Siemens, and federal, state, and local dignitaries today celebrated the groundbreaking of the Panda Temple Project. The power plant, located in Temple, Texas, will be one of the cleanest natural gas-fueled, combined-cycle power plants in the United States. Bechtel and Siemens have formed a consortium to design and build the new combined-cycle power plant, which will generate 758 megawatts of electricity and power approximately 750,000 homes.
